Vehicular Networking and Intelligent Transportation Systems Research Group, VeNIT-RG, focuses on novel and innovative researches in the field of Vehicular Networking and Intelligent Transportation systems. Our aim is to bring in new and novel studies comprising protocol, network and system design; testing and measurement of the systems; developing applications and systems in the field.

V2X communication and ITS are the promising technologies of near future. VeNIT-RG aims the development and integration of communication systems, vehicular technologies, and applications for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANets) and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). We focus on providing network connectivity to the vehicle in order to enhance the safety and comfort of the driving experience with the use of the enabling technologies including vehicle sensors, on-board network and V2V/V2I communication. The goal of the VeNIT research group is to:

  • Develop innovative communication architecture and wireless network technologies for VANeTs.

  • Develop Technology for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

  • Collaborate with local organizations to test and enhance the developed novel technologies.

Short term:

  • Cooperate with the Industrial organizations, either supplying their technology demands or developing novel technologies by research.

  • Collaborate with researchers, institutions, and organizations to apply our developed technology and evaluate them using real case scenarios.

Long Term:

  • Develop the next generation of vehicular communication systems.


2017-02-16   VeNIT-RG has been invited and joined to Smart Mobility Clustering (coordinated by TUBITAK, Turkey) together with Marmara University.

2016-08-14   Paper entitled "Collision Resolution MAC Algorithm for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks" has been accepted to be presented in the IEEE CAMAD'2016 21st IEEE International Workshop on Computer Aided Modelling and Design of Communication Links and Networks - Special Session on "Evolving Technologies for Smart Cities"

2016-06-27   Paper entitled "An Alternative Approach to Mobility Analysis in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks" has been presented in the IEEE UMITS'2016 IEEE International Workshop on Urban Mobility & Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference.

2015-08-25   Paper entitled " ReSCUE: Relatively Stable Clustering for Unbiased Environments in VANETs " has been presented in the IEEE IWCMC'2015, International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference.

2014-04-25   Paper entitled "Detection and Analysis of Holes And Bumps on Road Surfaces" has been presented in the IEEE SIU'2014 Conference. Paper is part of the research project "Detecting potholes in road surfaces".

2014-04-21   Project on Simulation and Capacity Analysis of Istanbul BRT (Metrobus) System, funded by IETT, has been completed. Project Result Report has been submitted to IETT. Simulation and results include following years upto 2024. It is recommended reorganizing the metrobus routes in addition to a new bus line.
